Transportation around the city

Cluj has one of the best public transportation networks in Romania. Better yet, on Fridays is FREE!

A ticket costs 3 RON and, while on the same physical bus, there is no time limit on validity. However, if you need to change the bus (even on the same line), please use another ticket! You can buy tickets from vending machines in the bus stations, through SMS (before boarding the bus) or using credit&debit card payment inside the bus.

From the airport you can use:

  • trolley no. 5 until Sora or Central stations (will get you to about 10 – 15 minutes walk from the recommended hotels). Bus station is outside the airport (5 minutes walk).
  • bus no. 8 until Piața Mihai Viteazul South – last station (will get you to about 15 – 20 minutes walk from the recommended hotels). Bus station is outside the airport (5 minutes walk).
  • trolley A1E – express transfer from airport to Piața Mihai Viteazul West, costs 6 lei / trip (will get you to about 20 minutes walk from the recommended hotels). Station is inside the airport next to the Arrivals terminal.

From the train station you can use trolley no. 9, until Memorandumului North station. You will then be 10 minutes walk from the recommended hotels.

You can also use safely Bolt or taxi inside the city or from airport (!! at the airport or train station, please pay attention to possible scammers !!). In most taxi cars you should be able to pay by card (!! make sure you also have Romanian lei in cash – just in case !!)
